Open season on cops.

Wow, the violence against police is ramping up.  Who'd a thunk it?  CNN.com has this panel of article links on the right hand side of its front page:

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that not all of these cops deserved to be killed in the streets but folks, it's not like I didn't see it coming.  The police, in general, have gone waaaaaay overboard.  They have killed and intimidated and disrespected the people in every way including police brutality, planting evidence, fabricating lies which they happily tell under oath, and even sexually molesting men and women under protection of their badges.

Also, it's not like the people didn't try to use the process.  Many complaints were lodged, many lawsuits were won and many payments made to victims.  But who made those payments, the cops?  Hell no.  The taxpayer did.  So the lessons were never really learned.  I hate this violence from both the cops and from the people.  Violence begets violence.  But protests and petitions and blogging didn't generate change.  The only thing that the violent police actually ever responded to was violence back at them or credible threat of violence to them.  It sucks up and down but I still blame the police for starting it and I will also say only the police can end it.  The police need to:

  • Stand the fuck down with the whole "we are SWAT" militarized police attitude.  Guess what cops: we the people are not scared of you.  We have seen what you do with others and we have our minds made up about what will happen to you if you bring the fight our way.  Let me tell you something: Some street tough homie with a gun is the least of your worries if you cross the wrong line with the wrong kind of citizen free man.  You don't know pain until you go up against well armed citizens who are proficient with their firearms and passionate about their freedoms.  It is a war you cannot win so JUST STOP.
    • Stop bragging about how your force got an MRAP or a APC or a tank or some kind of high tech cell phone intercepting spy system.  Turn all this equipment in.  You don't need it, and it damned sure doesn't make you safer.  It makes you the enemy.  Capiche?
    • Get rid of the military gear and the military look for the rank and file cop.  You need to rebrand your ranks into being the friend of the people, not someone that makes everyone nervous about when they are in proximity.
    • Get rid of unmarked cars, go back to plainly colored blue and white or black and white.  If there is a cop car in the vicinity I want to be able to see it.
  • Re-learn who you work for.  You do not own me.  You work for me.  I am a free citizen and I don't give a shit if you like that or not.  Deal with it or we will get rid of you (peacefully).
  • Forget about pensions.  Demand a day's wage for a day's work and have that negotiation up front.  I don't get a $1.5 mn pension payout starting at 45 and neither should you.  Besides, we are going to stiff you on your pensions anyhow.  It's time for the government including police to join the ranks of the 401k gamblers.  We have to take our chances in the market - why should your pension be guaranteed?
  • HELP PEOPLE.  You see someone with a flat?  Block traffic for them, protect them on the side of the road or, if you want, change the tire for the little old lady.  But help people.  Right now, when people see the police coming they say "oh shit, it's a cop".  Whose fault is that?  It's the fault of cops!  You need to change that image so that people say either "don't worry, there's a cop right over there" or "oh good, the police showed up".  Right now I would NEVER EVER call the cops unless required to by law because the cops often kill the person who called or a family member or their dog.
  • STOP ENFORCING PETTY BULLSHIT.  Like the girl in Austin who was jogging and jay walking who you traumatized with your manhandling.  The people are tired of "just doing our job" excuse for lack of common sense by cops.  Rules are on the books for safety and to assign culpability should someone mess up, not to be this big brother zero tolerance machine that you have turned it into.  In the vid, the girl was jaywalking.  Had she gotten hit by a car, it would have been clear that it was her fault.  That is the value of a jaywalking law, to understand culpability up front, not to serve as an excuse for controlling people's every foot step.  Now, think what you want about this comment but these are the kinds of things that are boiling people's blood and these are the things that accumulate into the mind of the herd that lead them to shooting just any old cop they see in the street.  The people can't fix this, you have to do it.
These are just some of the things that you cops need to think about and to act on very quickly or I'm afraid that the cop killing is going to pick up momentum and nobody wants that.  I certainly don't.  But I know it's going to happen if you don't listen to my council on this matter.  The credit hasn't even begun to collapse yet and we are seeing this shit simply because it has entered the region of negative return.  What do you think is going to happen when the fake money system collapses, when interest rates begin to run away from the fed???  That is when the people will really need the police and that is when police will have a big opportunity to add value to society instead of being the parasites that most of you are today.  But if people don't learn to trust you before SHTF, how will they ever have a chance to afterward?

Bottom line: you cops need to be more like Andy of Mayberry and less like Master Chief from Doom.  Not for the sake of the people, but for your own.
